Convergence by gp-03pilot Convergence by gp-03pilot
Taken in the airport, on my trip home over thanksgiving.

Standard PS adjustments. Comments and critiques appreciated.

Edit: Wow, this won daily deviation! I'm very excited, this is the first time I've had one.
To everyone who asked, this was taken in Orlando International Airport, definitly one of the more beautiful airports I've seen. I literally got off the plane, looked up, and took the picture, so I didn't have alot of time to get the perfect shot. I go through here several times a year, so maybe I'll be able to get a reshoot in the future.

Oh, and about the shutter speed. For some reason, my camera, a Sony F717, has really weird shutter speeds. Unless I shoot in exposure time mode, I get some horrible number like 20987983/1398723892. I'm not quite sure what to make of it.

Daily Deviation

Given 2004-11-29
Now I don't know too much about photography, but this shot is just amazing, in my opinion. Convergence by *gp-03pilot has so many fantastic elements to it; the lighting, the depth, and more. It is very crisp. A deviation very much worth a view and possibly a favourite. Check it out now! ( Featured by Kevin )

I don't recognize this part of the Airport. Was this the new international wing?

I like it, though the lights look a little more yellow on the left than the lights on the right , which look more white.

This is a great Image. The only thing I can find that I think could have been improved is that it could have been more symmetrical.

Bloody great work you have done here! keep it up.

Really nice work here. As someone said, this general idea (taking shots that maximise the effect of perspective) isn't a new one, but you have done it brilliantly well. You seem to have a great eye for finding things others notice that look amazing...
Well done!

Excellant shot. It's not easy shooting directly at lights and maintaining good shadows, but you pulled it off nicely. Definately worth a DD. Congrats.

really wish it wasn't slightly skewed, but still a very very interesting shot. great angles, and a solid variety of tones and textures. that is really some very interesting architecture. i oughta take my camera with me through the airport the next time i fly.

good job. congratulations on the DD!

This photo in my opinion is very weak... the lighting is subpar.. the onlything going for it is the fact that you centered it and it was in focus.... Thats just my opinion I could be wrong...

Hi there. Maybe you should pour your jealousy out elsewhere.

This is an amazing shot and Im afraid that you've got a horrible taste for art.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but if you were just critiquing and not being rude, you should have given ideas on how he could have made it better.

I dont appreciate your comment at all. Just my --opinion--.

I just want to make something clear... I went through and commented on some of his other pieces lending advice... for this photo there is no way that I can see to improve it... I believe the composition to be weak... I'm sorry I am not allowed my opinion with out getting blasted... I never got personal.... you crossed the personal line ergo the jealousy line....

No no. I had not meant anything personal to you. It seemed as though you were jealous about his DD and just spouted off. It seemed like the only sort of motivation that would have caused you to insult his artwork as such.

My only clear point to you, without meaning you any harm or insult whatsoever, is that if you felt that his piece was subpar, perhaps instead of hurting his feelings you could have given advice on how he could have made it better.

Afterall, isnt that what we are here for? To help eachother? Please dont take my comment personally. I was only giving a point on -how- you commented.

i agree completely with the aforementioned.

Great art should have an effect on everyone, not just those who are involved in that sort of art themselves, and can appreciate the skill with which it was achieved. That's what art is really all about. Making people forget about how you may have arrived at the end product and immersing them in your work.
And anyway, everyone has different tastes, not everyone will like a DD or think it should be there. That doesn't mean they're wrong, simply because you dissagree.
Think before you type.

did i ever say that this wasnt a good shot, or that this wasnt an artistic effort.. AT ALL..

did i mention anything about the lack of skill involved, nor did i speak to its lack of "effect"

this is a point and shoot.. static architecture shot.. there were lines, he knew that.. he knew that people on deviant art cum themselves over symmetry.. why do you think this shot got selected?

as said by the person who chose this dd.. "now i dont know too much about photography..."

get real bro. and dont confront me with some defensive comment on work that isnt even yours.

this shot has been done over and over and over and over and over and over.. thats the only reason i said i didnt understand why its a dd.

and dont EVER tell me to "think before i type" .. i didnt press "send" in some blissful coma while sitting at my computer.

I'm sorry. I thought u were having a go at a different person. I wasn't defending the artwork, I was defending them.
Here's an idea for u. Just a concept to wrap ur head around. It's called Civility. It means being polite. It's a great way to make friends and leave most people with a good opinion of you. Try it sometime.

i did not come here to make friends.. i came here to share ideas and share artwork.

you on the otherhand did come here to fill a void.. to trick yourself into believing that you play a role in others' lives.. thats why your art is shite.. and you go around leaving meaningless, empty praise on daily deviations.

i'm sure if he wanted to be defended.. he would have asked you personally.. instead.. you took it into your own hands to confront me.. bad idea ;)

Actually generally I don't comment on DDs. The few I actually like usually end up with over a hundred comments anyway, I figure they don't need mine...

If I had no friends, my art would be good. I need to focus more on my art and less on my social life, if I want it to go anywhere... but I don't particular, so there you go...

I'm sorry, but, I really don't see it... I can't help it, I just don't sense any greatness in this... Sorry. I mean, the architechture isn't really all that incredible, it's slightly tilted which takes away from the whole parallelled feeling, the lighting's a little askew, and well... It's not a shot that makes you stop and think, or even step back for a better view... Now, maybe once you were on the plane you might have had some photo-ops...

Ok, so you didn't mirror that? You know take one side and flip it over to the other side? Because it damn sure looks like an exactly bisymmetrical shot. Not saying it would be wrong if you did, I just have to know.

Nope, not mirrored. This is actually probably one of my least edited photos.

If you look in the center, you can see airvents that aren't symmetrical, but alternate from side to side. That should be pretty conclusive evidence.
